TRAVEL TO SAMANIDS MAUSOLEUM

On the first day of our travel we visited to one of the ancient places of Bukhara which was Samanids Mausoleum. It was very attractive with ancient patterns in unusual style. With our group members we tried to learn the history, location and significance of this building to the development of our religion.

Now I  am going to tell you about my adventures and emotions about our travel.

Read and get enough information about Samanids Mausoleum!

ITS HISTORY

Of all the medieval buildings in Bukhara, the Samanids Mausoleum is of special interest. This world-famous architectural masterpiece was built at the close of the ninth century. The mausoleum was erected as a family crypt immediately after the death of Ismail Samani's father. Later, Ismail himself and his grandson Hasr were also buried in it. It is interesting to note that erecting crypts was against Islamic law at that time, for Islam forbade erecting any post-mortem monuments upon the tombs of Muslim believers. However, the prohibition was broken in the middle of the ninth century by one of the caliphs himself, for whom a special as-Suli-biya Mausoleum was built. Ismail merely followed his example.

During the 10th century, Samanids' capital, Bukhara, was a major political, trade and cultural center that patronized science, architecture, medicine, arts and literature.

The walls of this monument was decorated with different attractive designs. If you look this building from four sides, the shape and sight of it changes. It is one of the unusual aspect of this building.

And we can see star-shaped and other various kinds of patterns at the top of it.

In this grave Samanid's father was burried.

                                  ITS LOCATION

The Samanid Mausoleum is a mausoleum located in the northwestern part of Bukhara, Uzbekistan, just outside its historic center. It was built in the 10th century CE as the resting place of the powerful and influential Islamic Samanid dynasty that ruled the Samanid Empire from approximately 900 to 1000. It contained three burials, one of whom is known to have been that of Nasr II.

In western side of building we can see the lake.

This complex attracts many tourists with its historical aspects and fascinating view in harmony with nature.

SIGNIFICANCE OF SAMANIDS MAUSOLEUM

The building is regarded as one of the oldest monuments in the Bukhara region. Samanid Mausoleum appears in virtually every survey on the Islamic architecture and is significant as an example of early Islamic architecture in the Central Asia and worldwide.  Its unknown creators harmoniously combined references to the prior regional traditions and deployed innovative structural elements, such as squinches, as well as new for the time features that are considered customary for the Islamic architecture worldwide.
