TRAVEL TO LYABI-KHAUZ💫

Hi everyone. Here I want to share my expressions about Lyabi-Khauz. It was really interesting to travel with friends arount sightseeings of Bukhara. 😍

Lyabi Khauz which is translated as ‘at the pond’ is one of the central squares of Bukhara situated in the southeast part of the city. The architectural ensemble was created in the 16th-17th centuries. The square has the form of an irregular polygon with the Divan-Begi madrasah in the eastern part. In the western part, opposite the madrasah, is the Divan-Begi khanqah. The khanqah is a small cruciform building with a domed hall in the centre and two storeys of khujras around it. The main façade is flanked with low towers and decorated with mosaics and interwoven ornaments running at its sides. The lateral facades consist of arched entrances and systems of smaller arches.

Opposite the pool we can see the monument of Nadir Divanbegi.

On the right side of Lyabi Khauz Kukaldosh madrasah is situated. We learned small museum there. In this museum we could see some works of Sadriddin Ayniy,Abdurauf Fitrat and others.TThis building will be reconstructed by UNESCO.

The water was used to irrigate the roads, for construction purposes and as drinking water. Picturesque centuries-old trees still stand around the pond today. Shortly after the construction of the water collection pond, a madrasah by Nadir Divanbegi was built on the other side of the square.

It is interesting with its beautiful proportions of the facade and the remains of pictures of fallow deer, fantastic birds in the arches. The whole courtyard part of the madrasah is a small pattern. The architectural design of Lyabi Khauz is very attractive.

We travelled with our teacher Nargiza Arifovna. She explained everything about Lyabi Khauz and told us some legends about it.It was unusual and interesting for us.
